Took today off to take my best friend Bill to the swamp pond for his first time there. Sunny, mid-60's, no wind, clear water met us there. We saw a 7 or 8' 'gator, Canada geese, water turkeys, and some wood ducks on the pond as we fished.

We fished for a half hour or so, Bill throwing two different weightless Senkos while I pitched a jig with no bites. My second cast with Matt's Baby Rainbow Trout swimbait brought me a 2.8 lb, 18 incher. He tried a spinnerbait, topwater, and more Senkos to no avail and he's caught 3 or 4 8+ lbers on a Senko before. I finally caught my second and last Bass, a 1.8 lb, 16 incher on a cr/bait.

We had a good visit togeather but I'm so sorry he didn't get the first bite but I'd told him Bassin' had been slow to almost non-existant there lately but he wanted to see and fish the swamp pond he's heard so much about that he and his wife came up from Jax., staying in Tifton where he'll try to fish tomorrow, weather permitting while I'll head back to work.
