The swamp pond has been unkind lately but I tried it again today and got lucky. Overcast, warm(high 70s), clear water, and 8-9 mph wind made for a decent4 hours.
First to hit was a 1 lb, 15 ouncer that grabbed a Basstrix Fat Minnow rigged on a 1/4 oz Chompers Stand-up jig. The bait landed on a pad and I popped it off of it and she struck as soon as it hit the water. It's tail area was 'red' from bedding.
Later, I had a 3(?)+ lber on a jig-n-pig but she got loose after 3 or 4 seconds as she surprised me when she bit it and I failed to get a good hookset.
Two Canada geese kept messing me up. When I got within 50', they'd flail across the water scaring Bass for a 'country mile'.
The third hour I stuck a 3 lb even Bass with a 3/4 oz Vertical JigX and Joe's trailer; all dipped in CB's Hawg Sauce. She was fun and increased my admiration for the JigX and CB's HS.
I saw some beds but did not see any Bass on them. The water's surface temp was from 67-70 degrees.
