I'm getting ready to get a couple of new poles and was thinking about the micro guides. Can somebody explain to me the positives and negatives of this things. Are they worth the extra bucks?

Here is an article/blog done by ALX Rods. I have several custom rods made by this guy and they are incredible. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Thanks archer8030. I think I might get a crankbait rod with them.

Anytime Blue. You won't be disappointed with anything you get from them. I know I haven't. Tell Alex that Barry sent ya. On second thought, don't. He might charge you you more. ;)

Micro guides are very nice because they cast farther and are more accurate. If you want to spend a little mpney you can get a custom built rod or you can get a duckett rod. Duckett rods are about 150 a peice and are good rods for the money. I would not reccomend the skeet reese rods. I tried them and broke all 3 i tried(might have gotten a bad batch) my buddy has had 1 for two years and hasnt had a problem out of it yet. Microguide rods are the way to go. Check out tigerodz. I used to work with the guy who makes them and he has built me a couple of rods that have impressed me with the strength they have.
