does anyone have anything to say, positive or negative about the Shimano Clarus rods. i'm looking for a couple new rods for my new citica's. normally i would just pick up a couple st. croix premier rods. but want to check out some of shimano rods. very unsure because every compre rod i've felt i can hear the tip cracking when any kind of pressure is on it. was wondering if the clarus is the same way.

I own Compre and Clarus. I consider both to be of high quality, and i fish alot.

so no problem with breaks. i snapped a compre at bass pro just by barely grabbing the tip. and looking at others i can hear them crack as if about to break. maybe they just got a bad shipment. i wanted to check out the clarus because they are a bit more appealing, price wise.

To me, i use Clarus for spinnerbaits, pitchin jigs, buzzbaits , anything where 14lb.line and up comes into play. If i'm throwing a football jig, texas rig worm.
Ikas, senkos or anything where i want a little more touch, i use Compres. I acually consider them inter/ changeable. Shimano offers a limited lifetime warranty. I`ve never broken a rod.

The clarus rods are great. For the money they are one of the best rods available. They come with a lifetime over the counter Warranty which means that if you are to ever break one, you can take it to any tackle shop that carries them other then Bass Pro and if they have them they will replace them on the spot at no charge. Some shops may try to say that they have to charge you a handling fee or to ship them back but this is not true. Shimano covers all of there cost so you don't have to pay them. So if they try to charge you go some where else. The other option is you can send them directly to Shimano which is in Irvine Ca and the address can be found on the Shimano website.

However where ever you take it, they will inspect it to try and make sure it was not done on purpose. As far as rod Warranty goes, Shimano has the best one in the business hands down.

I own several Clarus spinning rods. I find them to be excellent value for money.
