Decided to go to the cow-pond that's a few miles from the swamp pond and that I've posted pics from before. It was sunny, off-n-on wind, high 80's, no clouds, and green(fertilized?), murky looking water. This pond has no structure and the only cover is along its banks.
I started out throwing Mike's all-black S/B again. It brought me the first Bass, a 3.5 lber. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124342&anum=3723) That was the hardest fighting 3.5 lber I can remember. She had a brown/orange colored crawdad partly sticking out of her throat. Here she is again. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124343&anum=3723) The trailer hook caught her.
There is a wire fence that comes out a few feet from shore(OK, there's a little cover.) I threw Mike's S/B up next to it and felt something? Turned out to be a 5 lb even Bass. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124344&anum=3723) Mike uses sharp hooks because she was (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124345&anum=3723) hooked on the outside of her 'face' with just the S/B's hook. 5 lber again. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124346&anum=3723)
No more S/B bites for a while so I took a 'clue' from that first Bass and started pitchin' a Paca Craw in the closest color to the real one I have. That caught me a 3.2 lber. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124349&anum=3723) Same one. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124348&anum=3723) Again' (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124347&anum=3723)
I'm back at the same fence and pitched the PC and caught a 3.5 lber. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124352&anum=3723) She (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124351&anum=3723) tore both pinchers off the PC. Again. (http://www.f150online.com/galleries/pictureview.cfm?pnum=124350&anum=3723)
I pitched the PC again in that same area after taking the 3.5's pics and felt a 'bump'. I "set the hook"(I thought) and reeled in a large(?) snappin' turtle  ! Turned out it had only clamped down on the PC and I had not set the hook---thank goodness as it probaly would have torn something up.
Was a good four hours even if there was cow-pies everywhere :D ,
