Hey guys, I have been purchasing from Tacklewarehouse for some time now but never joined the forum. For the most part of it, I am a shore fisher. I do not own a boat and only on occasion do i get to fish from a boat with friends. :)

I just wanted to see who here fishes off shore majority of time and what are the most popular techniques you use.

Majority of the time I finesse fish since I have not been very effective with hard baits and spinners. Texas rigged worms, creatures, and wacky senkos are among the most popular because it works for me. Is this normal? Is fishing from the shore really that disadvantaged to where crank baits are not very effective? It may just be where I am from but when I fish from boats I do catch bass with cranks.

What are your preferred method of fishing off shore?

I also do most of my fishing from shore as I do not own a boat. My top 3 baits to use are: Swimbaits, Finnesse (Wacky Rigged Finnesse worms / Senkos), and Craws (preferably jigging a baby paca craw with an internal 1/8- 3/16 oz bullet weight). I still do have luck from shore with crankbaits, mostly squarebill or lipless. I'm not a big fan of spinnerbaits or buzzbaits from shore. One of the most important things to do as you walk down to the lake, walk slowly/quietly and at about 20-30 feet take a cast, and work your bait slowly (whatever you're using) towards shore, just incase there's a lunker sitting there. While you're fishing don't just cast straight out in front of you and walk down the shore, "Fan Cast" Cast at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 (right down the shore). Then, back off the shore about 30 feet and walk 10-20 yards and repeat the process. These tips helped a lot for me, I hope that it helps.

I've caught more bass from shore with a #3 Mepps spinner than with everything else I've used combined.

I fish just about everyday from shore on a 15 acre pond near my house in North Bergen New Jersey. I go with a variety of three inch swim baits first. My favorire being the 3 inch Maniac Minnows in the Root Beer color. This bait is awesome fished weightless with a size 8 octopus hook stuck in the back between the eyes and the dorsal fin. I stick a tiny piece of led in the nose to keep it below the surface. A small slit shot up from the hook does the same thing. I also like to swim a Zoom 3 or 4 inch fluke in the baby bass color on a painted scounger jig head. This bait is good if the biger bass are active. If that is slow or fails to produce i go to my slip bobber rig with either a plastic worm like a Berkley Turtle back , grub, or if i'm really desperate a live nightcrawler. I will also throw texas riged worms (zoom u tail in junebug) or other texas rigged small plastics like Hellgrammites, and the Maniac Minnows 3.5 inch Cut'r Bugs.
