My close friends have been in many different fishing tournaments, but I've never tried. I've never been one to handle pressure very well, and I suppose there has to be some excitement to it. I would like to know, in your opinion, is tournament fishing really that great.(besides the $)
When I go fishing I like to relax, enjoy myself, and be thankful that I'm not in a deadful classroom.
What do you think?
Do not forget to let us know what actually happens i the end.
Cant deal with this right now... People to see, places to go, you know how it is. But I will be back!

I love fishing tourneys. It is nice to go out and have a relaxing day of fishing. But I am an extremely competitive person and love to bring a Big sack to the scale for the win. Unfortunately I'm only happy when we win. For me 2nd is the 1st looser. With some of the smaller tournaments it's not really about the money. They only cost $70.00 a team to enter. If you get 1st you will stand to make some profit. But even if you finish in 2nd after all of your expenses you just break even. But the thrill of competition is still a kick in the pants. For me I like the pressure it forces you to step up your game.

Fish a tourney or 2 to start, maybe a local open with a pal before you get into the whole tourney scene and see how that goes for you.
If you like that and all goes well then you can join a local BASS affiliated club and go to the monthly meetings, pay your dues and go that route,
Be prepared to travel, 2 am wake ups, long days on the water, fishing in rain, (sleet and snow depending on where you live) heat, lightning, cold, etc etc.
As in tourneys when they pick the date no matter what the weather you are going to be on that water at least 6 to 8 hours.
Traveling a couple of hours to a lake, fishing all day and a couple of hours back home.
Your entrance fee plus gas plus an offer fee to each boater that you draw, for their expenses.
You will make some great friends fishing tournaments and you will learn a load of information.
But all in all it is hard work just like anything else.
