I know the TT & Spro & similar jointed swimbaits in the 4" or so size have wake/slow/ fast sinking models while the Sebile Magic Swimmer is a slow sink.
What I am curious about these jointed swimbaits are, are these all technically wake baits??? Even though they sink, even the fast sink ones; they come to the surface quickly or eventually. I know that you can also use them as a jerkbait.
So that's the main purpose is of these swimbaits are to be a wake lure? Does that hold true for the soft paddle tail swimbaits like the Yum Money Minnow & the likes?

The Sebile Magic Swimmer is truly a versatile bait, their is no wrong way to fish it. I prefer to wake this bait through shallow standing timber, I don't have the patients to allow the bait to fall to deeper depths.
If you want these baits to be fished deeper I would recommend a slower gear ratio reel such as a 5:1 and pack some patients. The slower retrieve will help the bait maintain depth.
Soft paddle tail baits are very versatile as well. Most of these baits are rigged with a weighted swimbait hook. I would start off with a 1/4oz swimbait hook and start experimenting. Hold the rod tip high during the retrieve and the bait will wake. A steady retreive with the rod tip lowered will allow the bait to swim.

I have done best with Tru-Life baits on slow stop and go retrieves where the baits gets down a little with sinking models with all weights inserted

I just purchased the Shellcracker G2 Wakebait and used it yesterday for the first time back here on the East Coast. It was over 100 degrees and i still managed a decent bass on it. I posted a video on this at my site.
