when is someone going to make a jig people can afford? 4$ seems a bit much for a jig head with a skirt on it?

there are cheap jigs....just buy the walmart brand...but if you want a real jig (especialy cause these are hand tied with wire not with a rubber collar)...you are going to have to invest

i just dont see how you could charge 4 dollars for something that cost less than a dollar to make? hand tied or not.

just think these bait companys want to make a name for them selfs then maybe try charging a reasonable amount atleast until you get a following.

Remember jkjohns331 these are business people who are trying to make money! Four dollars is not much but if your looking for a cheaper jig booyah, strike king, and bass patrol make a few jigs under two bucks.

i understand that they are trying to make a buck , but what i dont understand is how you come up with a price like that for a product that cost less then a dollar to produce. no disrespect to anyone just my thoughts.

Hey Guys,

First post here. found this thread while browsing google to see if our name was coming up anywhere.

I just want to say that the reason our jigs cost $4 is because they take a while to make. We dont use rubber collars to hold the skirt to the jig head, we use copper wire and it takes a lot longer to line the skirt up properly and make sure it is even. Plus, we use a stainless steel screw around the hook as a hook keeper. we are a smalll company and we dont buy these by the tens of thousands at a time. we buy them in 100 ct packs which means they are $0.20 each. And same with hooks, we buy them 100 ct so they cost a little more as well.

We certainly are not trying to rip people off and i think for $4.00 our jig is the best value on the market for what you are getting. I didnt build this jig as a gimmick or a way to make money, i built it out of personal need. I was going through too many jig trailers a season ( and our season is short up here in Michigan ) becuase the lead pegs on other jigs would tear a hole in them and they would no longer stay put. putting the screwlock around the hook solved this problem immediatly.

I do know what you guys are saying about jigs being over priced. I looked at the competition before deciding on our price and if you want to compare there product to mine and there prices to mine you will see that in the long run, buying another jig will be more expensive and you will get less. bottom line, is in most cases you get what you pay for. in a lot of other cases, you wonder where your money went when you get the product in hand.

Im not going to say any names, but i have seen jigs with costs of over $7 and all it is lead, hook, paint, skirt, and collar. we at least beef it up a little and give you some smarter components.

The way i look at it, you can spend $3.00 on a strike king or you can spend a buck more and get a better built, more functional jig. you will save money on jig trailers as well. trust me.

I am a husband and a father of 1 and also own 2 dogs. I work full time in a factory and my wife works for a construction company. we dont do this to get rich, i just like making lures and people like to use them. i cant sell the jigs any cheaper. i cant even sell them in stores becuase store owners want to make at least $1.00 per jig and i cant build them for $3.00, not with the quality i prefer while they have my name on it.

Plus, there made in the USA right in the mitten state. Not Costa Rica, not Korea, not Mexico, not Taiwan. Imagine what the big names would charge if they had there products made in the US? Scary.

OK, just wanted to shed some light on the topic. I dont want anyone getting the wrong impression about me or my company. we are very very small and just everyday guys just like you all. we fish small club tournaments and spend too much money on tackle. we are all one big family:cool:
