I've been using 50# power pro this last year for my froggin and slop pichin'. question: any reason to look at 65 or 80# braid for these techniques?? read up alot and see some guys use heavier line like this at times. any advantages to this? 50# is strong enough but does the 65 and 80 work better? this line will be on my new TD frog rods bought at TW! thanks for the help!

50 lb line is definately enough . Have you lost any fish using the 50 lb?

Nope haven't lost any with the 50. was wondering why people are using the bigger stuff. Seems to me that 50 would be enough, I mean how hard can you pull with bass tackle... thanks, I'm gonna buy a big spool of 50 this winter...

i use 80# on my frog rod. i use a 2ig ultra strike rod that is about the heaviest frog rod i have found. my partner uses the daiwa frog rod and he likes the 65# cause its a lighter rod

Braided line has a habit of digging into the spool, leading to casting difficulites and backlashes. The heavier the braid the less likely it will do this. I find that 50# is a good comprimise. I'll get some digging in, but he heavier lines take up too much spool space and make me feel like I'm fishing with rope.

exactly! ... not so much you'll need the extra strength. Rather the less likely chance that the line will dig into itself ... also, w/ the larger diameter line, you don't have to buy as much line also!!! ;)

I like stren braid because it is round and to me that make a big difference. I also use 23#mono as filler on the spool initially. With that my 20# braid works fine and it does bind into itself. I used suffix or suck-x tangerine under the braid because it's the worst stuff I've ran into and that is the only use I can find for it.
