I went out for just two hours this afternoon and fished in my boss's farm pond. Nothing much happened for the first half hour except I had a 2lber try to grab a cr/bait right at the boat and I missed it. A little later, I caught a 1 lber and a dink on a FnF Sinking Fool bait wacky-rigged.
"Fair-to-"bad" so far right? I'd been pitching the same jig I've caught some recently on but no hits until I got to an area I hadn't been in for a while. All of a sudden, Bass on...........4-6(?) lbs and she spit it right back at me. The water is very clear in this pond and I got a good look at her and two other 4-6 lbers as they too laughed in my face as I reeled in a Bassless jig/hook. '0' for three!
Well, it was getting close to supper-time so I started my way back to the truck as I started throwing a new bait from Matt's Lures (http://mattlures.com/) . He'd sent me a couple to try out. They are a little longer than his Baby Bass and shaped/colored like a freshwater Trout. Now there's no Trout(except the "green" kind!) in the waters here in middle Ga. but I caught a small Bass on his new bait. I had a second(2 lber?) on but I messed up on the hookset and lost it but for just a few minutes of throwing one, I was very happy with the results. More to come when the weather warms up and I can stay out longer.
(See what I meant by "good" and "bad"!)
