Does the Abu Garcia Vendetta 7'3" casting rod really have a moderate action? I've been reading on some websites that it is not moderate, but a fast action instead. I'm curious because I'm thinking of buying one.

Should I consider another rod like the Daiwa Mike Iaconelli 7'2" Hvy rod or maybe the Lamiglas Excel Bass series? Which of these would be the most sensitive and have the best warranty? I'm looking for a rod for flipping, pitching, worming, and maybe even casting some swimbaits.

sorry, i really can't answer your first question, haven't played with a vendetta. might ask TW to compare it to something you already own. for flipping, pitching...I use the St. Croix Legend Tourney slop-n-frog rod (H action), awesome as a frog rod and super lightweight. maybe a bit expensive for just a flipping stick tho. altho my thought is that it's best to buy the lightest rod you can afford because you start to feel it at the end of the day on the heavy action rods. for worming...I use the St. Croix 7'MH Mojo and the 7'M Legend Tourney, the Medium one being for lighter worming applications, also doubles as a good small crankbait rod. the MH doubles as a good deeper crank and lipless crank rod. they are both fast actions, but I don't own a boat and have to make do with fewer rods in hand. for swimbaits...I just picked up the 7'6 MH Okuma big bait rod because the musky rod I had was a bit too beefy for some of the smaller swimbaits like the mattlures hardgill but worked great for the 8" bbz's, so can't really comment on its quality, though I have heard good things. as a side note, just saw this on tackle tour about the lamiglas excel rod: http://tackletour.com/reviewlamiglasexcel734c.html Last edited by marledge : 02-09-2010 at 05:02 PM. |

Thanks!
I thought I might be asking too much for one rod, but I thought I'd ask. I have a Kistler 7 ft. crankbait rod, a Kistler 6 ft. 9 inch Spinnerbait rod, and a Daiwa 6.5 ft Md/hvy rod. I want to add one more rod to my arsenal, and am leaning to a 7+ ft. heavy action rod for fishing weeds and grass. |

Also, thanks for the link! It was very informative. I also have a St. Croix Avid series 7 ft. ultralite spinning rod that I love for trout and panfish. I would consider the Avid series this time, but I'm on a budget.
